BAR42 Reunion Update – Deposits due 1/30/12

My man (above) requires y’all to attend the BAR 42 Reunion in the Pacific Northwest October 4 through 7, 2012.

Please confirm your reservation(s) and send a $100 per person deposit by January 30, 2012, to me.

My man has “forged” agreement with Mysty Mountain Properties (www.vacationrentalcabins.com) to “cave up” on 6 vacation cabins for the duration of BAR 42. Refer in the attachment to Riverside Ranch, Mysty Mountain Cabin, White Water Retreat, Money Creek Lodge, Ranch Bungalow, and Timberlane Lodge (click on PROPERTIES in above link). A 7th cabin (and more) may be available if my man commands a large and motley band of BAR 42 cavers.

On Friday, October 5, 2012, an optional caver crawl to the Red Hook Brewery and Chateau Ste. Michelle vineyard should more than adequately dust and crop the masses.

On Saturday, October 6, 2012, a pilgrimage to an Oktoberfest is planned (see.www.gonorthwest.com/Washington/cascades/Leavenworth/Leavenworth.htm). Bauernfruhstuck should coat the tummies nicely.

Appertenances will be nicely provided by Mysty Mountain.

The Pacific Northwest is bubbling over with many other attractions (e.g., whales in and around San Juan islands, glimpses of vestiges of the British empire in Victoria and/or Vancouver, British Columbia, Seattle Fish Market, etc.). Other attractions will be provided later to cavers.

Please fork over your deposit by January 30, as Mysty Mountain has a quickened target for its receipt of interim and final installments. Our man must be honored – he must meet his obligations, too.

You lily livers among ya — take note. Kristi and I returned at 1:30 this morning from Index, Skykomish, Leavenworth, and various other WA Highway 2 attractions.

Although there seems to be a reasonable bar at the foot of Mt. Index, accommodations for BAR 42 were best so far in the Skykomish area, not too far from Index. We looked at 6 medium to large vacation cabins, and our son’s family will check out 2 more before Christmas for us. These have wood-burning fireplaces, on-site wood piles, some with fire pits, hot tubs, a sauna, big south-facing decks, large stumble-around areas for the schnockered among us.

There will be an all-day OktoberFest on Saturday. A potential, optional winery-brewpub wobble. While the weather could be colder and wetter, it could also be sunny and in the 70 to 80 range during Oct 4 to 7 time of BAR 42. A dyn-o-mite menu. Many other details to follow as more information comes in.

Clothing…check weather channel as time approaches. Minimum dress should be HOG’s “Be’atch” picture (earlier post). Kristi and I will be checking dress at the door, and interest and availability over next weeks and months.

Balta Group Page on Facebook

We have a fairly lively group page on Facebook called Balta.

I like it because unlike this blog anyone can post on the page. It only allows short posts but it has given us all a way to communicate with each other. We can also post photos there.

I’m happy to also post for you on the Balta blog, so keep that going.

I’ve recently learned that it’s not easy for newbies to find the Facebook page. If you’d like to add it to your Groups on Facebook but can’t find it, send me an email. If we’re already Facebook friends, I can add you to the Balta group. If we aren’t friends, that’s the first step. Email me first that you’re requesting to connect as a FB friend (so I know what’s going on and that you want to be included in the Balta group!); I’ll accept your friend request and then add you to the group. You can leave the group at any time, if you wish.

We stumbled on the BALTA web site and were amazed to see some old people we recognized.
We still cherish the memories made in BA. Great to see most of us are still alive.
We were saddened to hear that the base is closed and has been for some time ’04 we read but it was wonderful to see a picture of “the tree”.
We will continue to read the blog and try to decipher the photos

Drink up, ya bums! We’re going to Washington in 2012. Index, WA to be exact. The dates for it are October 4-7, 2012.

Hosting is are Dan and Kristi Hayden, and you’ll be hearing more from them in the months leading up to it.

Also, while I’m posting, I wanted to mention the Balta group page on Facebook. A lot of the group has been posting on the group wall, so it’s a good way to get in contact with folks also.
